Was I underestimated because I'm a minority?
I worked the week-end shift as a security guard for the past two years at the most prestigious condominium apartment building downtown. The who is who of the city and a few sport figures live here. It is a small building so it was easy for me to get to know the owners of the various condominiums. The people would speak to me as they passed the front desk during the summer since I started working there two years ago. I can remember this one woman in particular who is a young doctor. She would always arrive back Friday nights very late in very suggestive clothing, she would say hi as she passed and walk in a suggestive manner but only to tease me. Recently she saw me at the medical school library doing research and found out I’m a first year med student. She no longer speaks to me. She just stares at me like I’m some type of alien. I speak and she will not return the greeting. When I think in retrospect I feel insulted because it has given me the impression that she used to speak to me when she was under the impression that I was beneath her because 1. I am a minority. 2. she thought I was a "menial" security guard. This is not the first time this has happened to me either. I begin to wonder am I perpetually underestimated because I’m a minority? Then when some people find otherwise they no longer are cordial with me. It was the same thing when I went to pick up my last pay cheque. The same people who used to smile and speak to me looked at me in a weird way. Even when I’m out on town these white women wont talk to me, but as soon as I say med student they turn around and talk. One woman openly disregarded me until a colleague walked up to me and asked a question, she turned around and asked me would i like to go on a date, I couldn’t believe it. I am puzzled. I don’t understand.

How to sing like one of these singers…?
Beau Bokan from Blessthefall, Devin Oliver from I See Stars, or Jeremy Mckinnon from A Day to Remember.
Basically how to raise the pitch of your voice like theirs. High but not high enough that it just sounds like a girl. (ie. Skylit Drive or Coheed and Cambria, though they are good bands)

I have just left my old band which was more of an alternative/rock band, which i played lead vocals.
I want to join my friends hardcore band but they need a voice like that of the singers above and my voice is not as high as theirs?

Any tips or things I can do that can accomplish this? Thanks :)

P.s. My voice i guess sounds like Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, or Craig Mabbitt from Escape the Fate.

All around vocal practice, strengthen your vocal cords, sing in a variety of pitches for a while and eventually you’ll get the strength and control to go get it.
