 King Arthur (2004)
IMDB rating: 6.10
Plot: The Roman Empire is stretched across many nations, including Britain. In their conquest for more land, the Romans went into Sarmatia where they fought the very brave Sarmatian cavalery. The Romans, impressed by the Sarmatian’s weaponery and fighting skills, included them into their army as knights. After 15 years of serving and fighting for the Roman Empire the Sarmatian Knights, lead by Arthur/Artorious Castus, are about to receive their freedom as the Romans are leaving Britain. But the Knights must carry out one final order before they are free. A Roman priest and his family, especially his son Alecto, must be rescued from the invading Saxons. But there is another danger lurking on the road to freedom - the Woads, British rebels who hate the Romans.

Does it matter if these "historical" people existed in real life?
This is a non-inclusive list of people who do not think existed, at least anywhere near what people think of them.
Pythagoras,
Abraham,
King Arthur,
Jesus,
Socrates,
Amitabha (Dharmakara)
Ok, so Socrates isn’t a religious figure, but I’m still skeptical he was real. Does it really matter, and why would it matter more for some than other?
haha, ya, I meant non-exclusive. Too bad there’s not a usage check with the spell check.
these folks and others are lifted up as the codified standard that some one would have us strive to emulate.
be smart like Pythagoras
be faithful like Abraham
be "he whose life is boundless" like Amitabha (Dharmakara)
their value is to those whose are being taught their culture.
if the did not exist in reality then there would be other names that codify the culture.
all cultures have the way to express the danger of children vs. the raw world.
the European version is red ridding hood and the wolf. the Indian version is the boy and the tiger
the American Indian is the eager young hunter and the bear. the story or message is the same the players are different.
so for your non exclusive list the message still exist even though the messenger may have never existed as the story is told.

Yes, If they did not exist, then people should not base major life decisions on lies.

There is ample evidence that Pythagoras and Socrates were actual people. The others are mythical, with the possible exception of that last one because I have no idea who or what that is.

It doesn’t really matter. A lot of historical figures were probably a lot of people i.e. they were amalgams. Including Abraham is interesting: we only know of Abraham in one artifact, Genesis, which was written about 900 years after Abraham was said to have lived. To be perfectly honest, I doubt any one now could write something true about someone who lived that long ago, nevermind back then. Does it change anything? No. We’ve found lots of additional gospels, most in the 20th century (Dead Sea Scrolls incl. gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Judas, etc.) and none of these revelations change how Christians see their religion. Most people are too ignorant to what happened to allow made up stories to influence their daily lives. Life goes on and nobody cares.

It doesn’t matter to me, because my world view is not based upon their actual existence. What I have to learn from their teachings or stories about them can still be learned irregardless of whether or not they were corporeal beings. However, for people who base their salvation upon God choosing a people through an individuals lineage, or an incarnate God, the question of these folk’s real life existence is crucial to the entire way that the Universe is ordered.

King Arthur did exist. The stories are fake. He was an English barbarian who was successful at conquering his part of England. Socrates so existed! He was too 1337 to not have existed.
It doesn’t really matter if they existed. The ideas have been planted. It also does not matter for some more than others.

You are completely right, it does not matter.
As we progress with our understanding of the reality around us we will see, that there is nothing outside of us, everything exists inside of us, all these names, stories, places, actions are nothing else but desires, and details of our own internality.
The world "outside" is just an optical illusion. There is no time and space and motion.
The purpose of our life is to arrive to the point when we can truly perceive inside us the unity and singularity of the system we exist in.
I hope this and links below can help, all the best.

One can know for sure that Jesus exists, and is truly the Son of God, by praying the rosary regularly. See the following promises.
The rosary is explained here:
http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/Prayers/ rosary/how_to.htm
The fifteen promises of Mary to Christians who recite the rosary:
1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against Hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death, they shall participate in the merits of the saints in Paradise.
9. I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.
14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son, Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.
God bless!
