Do you think my friend was spiked?
Okay, i’ve just had the worst night EVER.
I went to another town with 2 of my friends, when we got there, one of my friends went off with some of her "friends" she met a few weeks back, i knew of them so i was ok with letting her go off on her own
me and my other friend were doing some shopping, when she rung us asking to meet back up with her

we met back up with her, and she appeared very drunk, blabbering on about how much she fancies this girl and muttering a lot, we thought it was just drink so we asked her to come back home with us on the train. with some struggle we got her to the train station, she was falling over backwards, sideways, all sorts, and at one point she even jumped onto and slid across the floor, apparently thinking she was swimming….

when we got the the station it was apparent that she was not going to be able to get on the train, my second friend got on the train without me and i stayed with my drunk friend and a few of her new found "friends"

she went to the toilet and when she came out people were saying she had been sick and was coughing up blood

concerned i took her outside, propped her up against the wall and bought some crisps, bread and water to try to sober her up

she was dropping in and out of conciousness, she would completely shut down, and with lack of a better comparison, you know when a pet dies, and they feel completely dead to touch? eyelids strange to move? yeah, she felt like that. she wasnt responding to pinches or slaps or anything either

she would wake up and say a few drunk words then zone out again, she was doing this several times. it was clear she had gotten worse

one of the "friends", lets call this one "friend Z" then left, and after she had left, a person said that friend Z had apparently dropped her 5 Extacy tablets in my friends drink without her knowing. Completely shocked and scared i phoned the ambulance, she got taken to hospital with me, had some tests done, and now shes fit as a fiddle, about 3 hours later (though she’s STILL very drunk :S!) I dont think she beleives that "friend Z" spiked her, which is the horrible thing about it, because if she did i really want to make sure she never sees her again, but shes pretty hooked up on this girl, but she did say that she never opened a drink herself, friend Z was always the one to give her her drinks, "conviniently" opened for her..

right, apart from being the scariest experience of my life, i’m in two minds about the girl telling the truth about the extacy tablets. I mean 5 extacy tablets is enough to kill you.. and when the tests were run, they came up with nothing to back up the theory that she had been spiked.. her pupils were fine, etc, but she was just very drunk. apparently she only drunk a bottle of 15% vodka, yeah she’s a lightweight but i dont think a bottle like that can make you that bad so quickly…

also, (i have no idea how drugs work, ive never taken them), is it even possible she got these tablets popped into her drink then the effects wore off after a couple of hours? dont these things last longer?

Basically, do you think my friend is just an epic lightweight and the person was lying about the tablets, or do you think the person was telling the truth about the tablets and i should kick the shit out of the person who did it? (in a metaphorical sense, of course ;))

I’m no expert on alcohol, but I don’t know many drunk people who cough up blood. Your friend isn’t paranoid. That’s why even my grandma told me before I went to college to never leave my drinks unattended, and she knows I don’t drink. Just tell her to get her own drinks from now on and to keep up with them. Thailand weather in early june?
Hi everyone im hoping some one out there will be able to give me an answer to this question so i can make my decision as you have probably guessed im planing to go to thailand in early june (Krabi & phi phi island to be exact) and from research i have found that this a wet season. I really dont mind few hours rain here and there but what i really want to know if im not walking in to a full on typhoon. From reading online i am getting mix signals some websites say its great time to go as its cheap and quiet and u get refreshing rain in the evening or night time but thats only for few hours and then sun is out again temp rising to 32c during day. But then there are other sites thats say that there is a high risk of flooding, heavy constant all day rain (sometimes few days in a row) and you cant touch the beach because its simply to windy and there is a fear of drowning. As you can see my dilema. I really cant decide if i should go and take a risk or just forget the whole krabi trip and go elsewhere ? What do you think i should do? Any info will be great thanks for reading and for the help in advance….

I feel like I'm not doing a good job with my baby turtle - am I doing something wrong?
I bought my baby Southern Painted on Monday (today is Wednesday) and he is TINY. I set him up in a 20 gallon aquarium and filled it a little less than halfway. I gave him some nice rocks and stuff to hide around and investigate, I also got him a basking log and a shore area. He has a UVB bulb and a nocturnal (it gives off red light) heat lamp on during the day and I keep only the nocturnal heat lamp on at night.

He has a good filter and the water temperature is 76-78 degrees. The ambient temperature is room temperature, but it’s about 82.5 under the heat lamp.

I’m mainly worried about feeding … I don’t really know how to do it. I tried throwing him some floating pellets in (that’s what they fed him at the pet store) but he wouldn’t eat them … at least, he didn’t eat them when I was around. Who knows, he’s so small he may have pigged out. I freaked out and threw a bunch of pebbles in and now they’re decomposing at the bottom of the tank (haha) so I have to clean it out tomorrow and try this approach again. I tried giving him some romaine lettuce and a little smooshed banana but he wasn’t into that.

He’s a pooping machine though … so maybe he is eating behind my back?

Also the poor guy is TERRIFED of me, every time I walk into the room, he jumps off his basking log and hides around a rock somewhere. I was told that if I handle him twice a day, he’ll get used to me quickly and won’t be so scared … but I don’t want to stress him out.

Not bad.

However, the water temperature is a bit too high. They live near southern Ontario, so I would aim at 74F.

The basking temperature is also a bit low. It should be high 80’s to low 90’s, so I would suggest you keep it at a steady 89-91F.

The ambient air temperature is also a bit low. It should be from the low to mid 80’s, so I would aim at 83F. The temperature under the lamp is perfect as the ambient air temperature.

When your painted turtle is a bit bigger like at 3 inches, I would add a UVA lamp as well.

You say feeding’s the problem, right? Turtles may go days or even weeks without eating once in a new home. They will slowly adjust to their new enviroment.

Hatchlings are more carnivourous thus need more protein. Good foods are snails, crickets and assorted worms and insects, as well as feeder fish such as guppies and rosy red minnows. I would not do goldfish and crayfish because they are medium to high risk foods.

Good pellets are Reptomin, Mazuri freshwater turtle diet, and Rep-Cal.

Young turtles usually won’t eat much veggies if their that small, so I would wait for another few weeks.

Romaine isn’t very good. They can be fed on occasion, but should not be a staple.

Bananas and other fruits should be rare treats, as these turtles don’t eat fruit in the wild.

Whoever told you to handle him often is uneducated. Handling twice a day will stress the little guy and he may die. Handling is not the way. You should let him adjust to his new enviroment, then approach him day by day until he feels comfortable around you.

First of all, do not handle your turtle any more than absolutely necessary; it needs to get used to its new environment, and you should never handle a turtle more than necessary because they never like to be handled. It will get used to you and come to see you as a source of food.

Secondly, you should get the tank cleaned out and get a filter for it, or you will have to clean it out twice a week. You should also only feed it a few baby turtle pellets once a day, though you should really try to also feed it things like earth worms, bait fish and small amounts of liver, which are healthier than pellets alone. Do not feed it any significant amount of vegetable matter until it is a few years old; for now the most you should do is occasionally give it a tiny bit of duckweed, SAV, carrot shavings, or dark greens(excluding spinach).

Also, do not leave even a red light on at night because it will interfere with the turtle’s sleeping pattern, and you really want it to be a little a little bit cooler at night to simulate natural conditions anyway; even the slightest amount of light tends to keep my painted turtles up.

Just to make the tank easier to maintain, you could do away with all of the rocks aside from the basking spot because it does not need them. I like to use a floating plastic plant as an in tank cover because it does not cause any maintenance issues and there is less risk that the turtle will become trapped.

I agree with the other poster, however the only thing I would suggest is that you add a UVA/UVB lamp now rather than later. I wouldn’t bother keeping a heat lamp on at night unless your room becomes very cold, but most of the time they will sleep underwater anyways so if the water is warm it shouldn’t be a problem. The previous posters had good advice. I had painted turtles and they became very personable with time. Once they figured out I was a food source they would paddle over to check me out, but I didn’t handle them very much. Turtles are the kind of animals that should be treated as a display animal.
The only thing I can add is a little trick to keep the tank clean. I used to feed my turtles in a rubbermaid tub with warm water. I would leave them in there for about an hour or so after eating. They would eat, poop and then go back to the tank. Since there were no scraps of food and much less poop in the tank, it was easier to keep the tank clean.

Horse not feeling good… Anything ideas?
My horse is acting odd and I think something is wrong… She has not been worked for a while, because I am in school… I recently moved from a dry lot with a shelter to a stable. The place that she moved to has a run, but I don’t think she likes to go out in it like she should. (Where I live=mud everywhere in colder months.) I come every other day to clean her stall, but rarely get to work with her… She went for about two months, then I started letting a lady come out to do some gentle riding. She’s doesn’t have a lot of experience so I always come out with her (thus, she could not be the problem).

I worked her a few times before the lady came out to ride and she SEEMED like she MILDY didn’t want to put weight on one of her legs when I lunged her once… And she’s had some stumbly and awkward gait issues lately sometimes back legs look SLIGHTLY stiff. Once she made a sharp turn on a lunge line and fell flat on her side (towards the inside). Now keep in mind that she is NATURALLY a clumsy horse, and she’s just been more clumsy than usual lately, and she is getting like 10% of the exercise she’s used to for a long period.

Other weird symptoms include:
*Does not want random areas of her body to be touched (most prominent being her girth area and throat) ->Started in late December
*MILD cough when exerted->Started before we moved her, but went away then came back in December
*Fairly grumpy… but grumpiness disappears when being ridden or doing groundwork-> Started December
*Shaking ears and will not let you touch her ears-> Started yesterday

why should i upgrade my guitar?
so i’ve been playing for 4 months…i have play a squire bullet strat…i play a lot of trivium (metal) and i’ve been shredding a lot of solos as of recent…i want a schecter hell-raiser 7 string (jeff loomis signature)…which i will buy by the summer…

however im curious, what will the difference be?…i’ve notices when i hammer on and off, it doesn’t sound as crisp as it probably should…does upgrading the pickups etc really make that big of a difference?

for anyone who knows trivium, i can play kiristude gomen almost flawless (on a 6 string, i just bump each string up with standard tuning, just playing the B part on E and E part on A) and i play the solo at half speed…

does she really know what she wants?
OK I will try to make this as short as possible but it s pretty long story sorry.
Me and my girlfriend have been together for almost four years now from when we were 16 and 17, and for the most of it have been so happy and frequently said we were in love with each other. Even when I went traveling to Australia for a year we stayed together constantly talking and she even came over to spend a month with me. From this time I realized how much I missed her and actually came back 5 months early to be back with her.
Coming back early annoyed a lot of my family and i ended up with nowhere to stay so I moved in with my girlfriend and her parents. This was always planed to be a short turn thing but it just seemed to never happen. For the majority of living together we were very happy and obviously rowed but if there was ever mention of me moving out it was quickly resolved and agreed that we both liked being together and would not know different.
Anyway we stayed this way for almost a year and then for some stupid reason I started to flirt with a girl from work. The girl started to go over the top and go too far so I stopped and cut all contact with her. My girlfriend found texts from the girl and this lead to obvious arguments. But we got through it I explained and she said that she did not want to end us over that and we seemed to move on.
Again we were fine for a number of months until just recently. My girlfriend has started to seem to distrust me recently and was saying I was lying about talking and flirting with other girls. She found pictures on my laptop which were adult related and thought I had been sent them when actually sadly i had downloaded them from a website. Also at this time she started to say to me that she loved me so much and that I was the guy that she could see me settling down with but she also felt that I would hold her back as she has just been with me and she would like to experiance other things. My reply was that if she wants to do other things the only thing I will stop is her and other guys and it was left at that.
Recently I started to hear of her and onther guy getting close and him being very strong willed in talking to and seeing her. I asked her about this and she denied it saying he was just a friend and people were making it over the top and out of context so I left it at that. I started to hear more and got very contiouls of it and all her reply ever was is your not doing what you said (as in anything but other guys). In a matter of weeks we got really tense and she asked a couple of times for a break, My reply always was simply that a break is a cowards way of ending a relationship.
Anyway one day or argument got to heated and she insisted on the break so I agreed and moved out staying with my parents. That night she told me that she did love me and was sorry about all of this she just needed some time to clear her head. Only two days into this break I heard of her and this guy being together out with friends and kissing and cuddling etc… I went to her house to confront and just got a brick wall from her where she said its over and that she couldn’t be with me if she also has feelings for someone else. I left and was destroyed. A few days later I started getting lots of family issues and was just going on a downward spiral. On a facebook status of mine she had put she hadn’t moved on she just wanted to experience single she said for me to let her have fun and then she can consider relationships again. Now for some stupid reason I let my family issues cloud my judgment and other peoples advice and tried to contact her. She started to get very annoyed and said I was not respecting her wishes and giving her space. One of the last texts I sent to her I asked if she did still love me like she had said a few days before. Her reply was simply no. When I asked why she said she was hurt and angry, I tried to explain to her that hurt and anger does not stop love and got no reply. The next day I saw her at work and confronted her telling her to say to my face she does not love me and I will have to deal with it, she told me she could not in a tearful way and went.
We have not spoken since then and I know she is very annoyed at me for not giving her space and that is exactly what I am doing now. I just wish I knew where we stand and what she was thinking. It feels to me like she has managed to stop long me in the space of a few days and is moving on already. All her friends and even her best friend think she does still love me and is using other things to hide it including this guy as comfort, and they think she is having a mid life crisis and doesn’t know what she truly does want. I just wish I could talk to her and explain the situation and why i hadn’t given her space in the first place and everything else etc… but that just wont be giving space so I cant. All I can do is sit and wait and hope that she will miss me which she doesn’t seem to be at the moment.

She had not experience anyone and essentially any life except you. that is true
she wanted to experience life. you cannot rob her of that. if she experienced life she might have chosen another perdon entirely. you did not want that. but you helped that along because you experienced life yourself and gave into flirtations.

One cannot force others or make choices for them. so yes stay away. first become aware on how to be happy , totally happy on your own. and yes you might be with her as friedns or lovers who knows, but you will be completely happy once you understand how to love yourself.
